ANGER
Teri M. Bethel
They say you’re as strong
As a raging bull,
Trampling all hindrances
On the path that you go.
The truth is, I know,
Your anger can’t hide.
Its fury ever raging
Like the indomitable tide.
Swell if you must when
Your patience grows thin.
The indisputable place for you
Is lining hell’s bin.
Who made you master?
To rule over all,
To authorize my being
Or instigate my fall.
Be advised of this, Anger,
I’ll not bow to you,
You’ve had your last bite—
Now choke as you chew.
Yes, the Lord has heard
My troubled plea,
He’s drawn a bloodline
Completely around me.
You, Spirit of anger, were
Passed down to me.
No more will I yield.
I’m standing with the three.
The Father, Son and the
Holy Ghost,
Have secured my whole life.
That’s what I need most.
A bully you are ‘cause
You’re programmed to be.
A victim I’m not
As clearly you’ll see.
It takes courage for me
To stand up to you,
But I’ve had my fill
And I’m planning a coup.
The boys all behind me are
Heaven’s angelic host.
They’re ministers of mine
And they won’t leave their post.
Pack up, pull out,
Go through this door.
Get out of my life—
I won’t tolerate you anymore.
He left with a scream,
Not wanting to leave,
But he’s out of my life
Along with disease.
The last time I saw anger
He was high tailing south;
So take hold of your heart
‘Cause he’s looking for your mouth.
