SAMMY, HE MA, AN' SHE CAR

Teri M. Bethel

Four stran’ a’ hair under he nose

An’ Sammy believes he’s man.

Sammy borree he mudda car

An’ yell, ‘catch me, if you can!’

Up the street he spot police

Next to Ma Bain place,

He spin aroun’ an’ head

To town wit fear paint o’er he face.

Sammy mussee ain’ see the tree

The people them did dash.

Big man wit’ he four l’il stran’

En up in the trash—

Whappity blap! Sammy get slap

Mudda on the scene.

All we hear is, ‘Sammy dear,

Explain what you did mean.’

Sammy pout, he teet fall out,

He ain know what to say.

He open his mout, nothin’ come out,

He figure it ain’ his day.

Many a folk did hear dis tale

An’ laugh til tears dem spray.

But Sammy learn he lesson well-

To play, ya gatee pay!
