Author Interview

  1. Where are you from originally?

I was born in the Bahamas, on the beautiful island of New Providence where I currently reside.

  1. Do you have a history of writers or authors in your family?

I am the only writer in my immediate family. I have a half-brother who also writes. He has written over eight books and it was through his influence that I got into writing. Interestingly, prior to writing my book, we worked on a book that has not yet been published.

  1. Did you excel in writing while in school?

As a teenager I would write based on the storyline of a book I had read or a movie I had seen or from a conversation I heard and/or someone had relayed to me.

  1. How important is reading to you? Does it affect your writing?

Reading is very important to me as not a day goes by that I don’t read something either online or from a hardcopy book. I sometimes take note of the writer’s style to see if it fits my writing style for future writing.

  1. What works have you written?

After being downsized in 2017, I was inspired to write a book entitled “Kingdom Perspective.” As I struggled with the idea that I had been downsized from a company and a job that I had worked on for 15 years without any forewarning—I was inspired to write that each of us should look at life with an eternal outlook and from a ‘Kingdom Perspective’ if we wished to not be taken off guard by crisis and the uncertainties of life.

  1. Are you currently writing another book now?

I am currently writing a series of books that are topical in nature that I believe when read can impact the outlook and behavior of the reader in their journey toward their divine destiny.

  1. How long have you been writing books?

I have been writing books for over 6 years.

  1. What are your ambitions for your writing career?

My ambition for writing is to inspire, encourage, and motivate readers to become their better selves and to be activated to do what they were born to do in this life.

  1. Why do you write?

I write to inspire and encourage today’s readers and to leave a legacy of my thoughts for future generations.

  1. Did you always want to be a writer, or did you stumble upon this path?

I never thought I could be a writer. However, I was often encouraged, as was our entire church by the late Dr. Myles Munroe, our senior Pastor and mentor a Bahamas Faith Ministries International, that “there is a book in each one of us just waiting to come out.”  He encouraged us to read and to write.

  1. Did you self-publish your book, or did you land a publishing contract?

Being an unknown writer I discovered that I had to self-publish my book in order to get my book published.

  1. What is your process for writing books; do you create an outline before writing?

I find it easier for me to write by first doing an outline of the book.

  1. Do you have a daily writing regimen?

I normally write based on inspiration and when the inspiration is not there, I read books on my topic that could inspire me to write.

  1. Do you consider yourself a full-time or part-time writer?

I am a part-time writer as I have a full-time job, family business to attend to.

  1. For your own reading, do you prefer ebooks or traditional paper/hardback books?

I prefer hard copy books as I like to physically highlight and record my thoughts to a passage in the book I am reading.

  1. Do you write every single day?

I do not write every day as my days as a Pastor can be very demanding on my time—I tend to write best early in the morning when my thoughts are fresh or during my downtime.

  1. Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Writing can sometimes energize me especially in those moments of inspiration to write.

  1. Have you written any books in collaboration with other writers?

I have written an unpublished book in collaboration with another writer. It was during the writing of this book that I discovered that I had the ability to write a book of my own.

  1. What is your take on the importance of a good cover and title?

The cover and title of a book are important as I should be catchy or interest to multiple readers.

  1. Have you ever designed your own book cover?

I designed my book cover for my first book and also the one I am presently working on.

  1. Do you believe a book cover plays an important role in the selling process?
