If you’re asking the questions like:

  • Why do we exist?
  • What is the purpose of life?
  • Is there a Divine plan?

John speaks to these questions through poetry. In this book, which the poet calls a celebration of life, death, and everything in between, many heartfelt themes range from humorous to heartwrenching, where the author bares his soul. The book fluctuates between ‘good and evil’ and ‘light and darkness', leaving the reader to wonder: what truly defines our current state of existence-virtue or villainy?

In his sophomore poetry collection, The Birds, Poitier expresses the beauty of emotion, capturing his in a mixture of pain and poetry that blends to create an immersive story that traces back to the dawn of his school days. The Birds offers an aerial view of Poitier’s educational life and experiences while providing insight into his hopes for the future.

With his new literary venture, John Shaquille Poitier Jr works to capture the beauty and practicality of biblical principles with modern storytelling, seeking to combine the two in a thought-provoking collaboration of prose and poetry.
