Teacher

There is potential in everyone. We believe with encouragement and training our students can excel in whatever they put their minds to. It is after all, not how one starts in life but how you finish. That said, we can ensure that our children are equipped to start strong to complete their life's journey with excellence.

The opportunity presented here is voluntary for those wishing to participate. It is not a competition, rather a celebration of our youth by giving them a platform to showcase their writing ability. Teachers, parents, and guardians are encouraged to work with the interested young writers to ensure that they bring their best effort to the fore. If your student's work is not accepted, check the content to ensure it has satisfied all of the requirements. Once the improvements are made, you may resubmit the short story. Schools should limit their submissions to 4 students per school, per term.

When coaching the student, teachers should ensure that:

  • They are writing according to a specified topic, or if open content, one that follows our guidelines.
  • It is the original work of the student.
  • Punctuation and grammatical errors should be corrected before submitting.
  • Standard English is used. Dialect and poor grammar, are not accepted.
  • Content should be family-friendly. Violence, slander, profanity, racial slurs, horror, ghosts, witches (etc.), romance, and sexual content is not allowed.
  • Permission is received in writing from the parent/guardian to participate and be featured on the site.

All rights to the writings remain the student writers. Click here to go to our short story writing tips page. Thank you for helping to build a generation of strong young people who contribute to increasing literacy levels in our country.
