Errol "Duke" Strachan

Errol, more commonly known as Duke, was born on the island of Acklins in the Bahamas, and although he spent most of his childhood in Nassau, Duke spent some of his youth in several outer islands.

Duke is a self-taught musician despite losing the fingertips of three fingers in a childhood accident. His love for music catapulted him on the music scene while a taxicab driver on the streets of New Providence. While singing in his cab, he met a man who would open the doors for him to audition in the United States of America. Duke retained his taxicab while singing and enjoyed meeting, driving, and entertaining many well-known persons and celebrities in his home. Duke and his wife Dorothea have hosted Sidney Poitier, Nat King Cole, Isaac Hayes, Julius "Dr.J." Erving, Patrick Ewing, and many more.

Seeing the need to expand his knowledge of music as a self-taught musician, Duke learned how to read music and ultimately began teaching others how to read and play various instruments. In addition to starting several bands, including the reknown Duke and The Lords, Duke is the founder of the Young Souls Orchestra and the founder and Director of the National Youth Orchestra of The Bahamas. He is an avid gardener who operates a plant nursery at his Soldier Road home. Duke is the father of 3, grandfather of 6, great-grandfather of 2, and husband to the love of his life Dorothea. Duke and Dorothea reside in New Providence, Bahamas.
