Join us in welcoming our author, Pastor Princess Burrows to the Author Spotlight. We’ve asked Pastor Burrows a number of questions which we hope will allow you to get to know her a little better.

  1. Where are you from originally?

I am an Androsian ( The island of Andros)

  1. Do you have a history of writers or authors in your family?

I have siblings and nieces who are authors.

  1. How important is reading to you? Does it affect your writing?

Reading is fundamental; it also shapes and enhances my writing in many ways.

  1. What works have you written?

I have written books, poems, prayers, inspirational pieces, journals.

  1. Are you currently writing another book now?

Yes, I am currently working on another book.

  1. How long have you been writing books?

I began writing many years ago. However, I have recently republished a newer and more exciting version of my book Letters to My Mother - Confessions of Engine #9.

  1. What are your ambitions for your writing career?

I have many amazing stories to tell. I want to share them with young adults with the hope of helping them to make healthy choices throughout their lives.

  1. Why do you write?

There are several reasons why I write. Among them are, God has gifted me with the ability to write. Books can travel to many different places, and they are learning tools. I have a passion for writing. It gives me the ability to impact lives positively.

  1. Did you always want to be a writer, or did you stumble upon this path?

I recognized that I had a gift for writing, and many authors inspired me.

  1. Did you self-publish your book, or did you land a publishing contract?

I did my initial books; however, with the newly released version of my book, I put it in the hands of a self-publishing company (Inspire Publishing), which allowed me to focus on the area of my strength, which is creative writing.

  1. Do you have a daily writing regimen?

I don’t have a daily writing regimen, but when I am involved with a writing project, I try to dedicate a few hours per week for writing as my busy schedule permits.

  1. Do you consider yourself a full-time or part-time writer?

Right now, I am a part-time writer.

  1. For your reading, do you prefer ebooks or traditional paper/hardback books?

I prefer traditional paper/hardback books.

  1. Do you write every single day?

Unfortunately, my time does not permit me to.

  1. Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Writing energizes me.

  1. How long on average does it take you to write a book?

That varies. I don’t think I can say definitively. My initial draft may be quick, but the refining process takes a little longer.

  1. What genre are your books?

I write inspirational fiction books as well as poetry.

  1. What draws you to this genre?

As a mother, teacher, and pastor, I believe an uplifting word is always timely for today’s youth.

  1. Have you written any books in collaboration with other writers?

No, I’ve only written alone. I must say, though, that my husband is a huge part of my inspiration process when it comes to hashing out some concepts, so in many ways we’re a team.

  1. How successful has your quest for reviews been so far?

People tend to tell you how they enjoyed your book rather than writing a review. That said, it’s beginning to pick up. I would welcome more from my readers, of course.

  1. Do you have a strategy for finding people to review your books?

I’m working on it.

  1. What is your take on the importance of a good cover and title?

A good cover and the title are extremely important. It’s the reader’s first taste of what is on the inside. It may be the only opportunity to capture their attention.

  1. Have you ever designed your own book cover?

Yes, I have. Like most self-published authors, we tend to do most things. However, when I republished Letters to My Mother, I saw the importance of having it professionally done. I’m glad I did.

  1. Do you believe a book cover plays an important role in the selling process?

Yes

  1. How do you feel when people recognize you in public and appreciate your work?

I feel blessed that God allowed me the opportunity to impact a life.
